Belial's Best Book: Nickel and Dimed: On (Not) Getting By in America, by Barbara Ehrenreich. This book will tell you THE REAL DEAL about working for minimum wage and scraping by in the States.

The author takes a journey to see what it's like for America's working poor and dooms herself to jobs at places like Walmart and Molly Maid. It's a tough life for many Americans who, although gainfully employed and contributing to society's tax base, still live below the poverty line.

Judging by all the reviews here, this is a sure hit of a non-fiction, real-life exposé (ISBN: 0805088385)

New Kid...er...Cat on the Block

About a month ago, a new kitty moved into the neighborhood. He's orange with white feet. He always bothers me at the back window. I don't like this.

Norman, who also has a twin named Mother, wears a bell on his collar. When he comes to stare at me through the backdoor, I can hear him tinkle with every step.

He just seems curious, like most of us felines are, but really...I wish he would leave me alone. In this picture, it's about 4 a.m., and he interrupted my beauty sleep. How dare he!

Weather: Quite nice, actually. Correct ratio of sun to chilly.

A Fashionable Fourth

One of my Siamese cousins (I'm a Burmese, remember?) decided to celebrate today in a special way. Doesn't he look spiffy? Still, that bow tie must be a little uncomfortable...

Ferocious & Fierce

See my fangs poking out in that pic over there? I just went to the dentist last Friday to get them cleaned.

The kitty dentist is not very fun. I can't eat all morning, they put me out with some funny gas, and then when I wake up, I feel like I'm drunk. Oh well. At least that ordeal is over for another year.

Weather: Not too hot lately,
but hints of summer in the afternoons.

Intruder Alert

The other day, my neighbor cat Stumpy was just hanging out in MY backyard. How dare he! This is MY house.

He's always snooping around our yard. He digs in our grass, he climbs our walls, and he stares at me through the back door glass window. He needs to get a life.

Since I'm not allowed outside (life is better kicking it w/my humans indoors anyway), I just have to stare back at him from the back door. He makes me so angry showing off and parading around MY yard.

Weather: April showers have not arrived yet.
The clouds just keep playing tag with the sun all day.

Saturday the 14th

In honor of yesterday's "holiday," I got one of my unlucky black cat friends to pose and show you that he means no harm.

I don't know how that myth about black kitties crossing your path got started, but really, give those guys a break! Check out my buddy over there. Does he really look dangerous?

Weather: It's been cool and windy these days.

A Word About the Camera

You know, I know I'm cute and all, but sometimes I think my humans go overboard with taking so many pictures of me. This is one example. I don't really think it captures my true essence. I mean, you can't even see my fit body! My face looks totally smushed. Really, I have a much cuter mug than that shown here.

Weather: Yesterday was pretty windy.
Glad I'm inside cause I don't like my "feathers" ruffled.

Not Amused

Would somebody please tell humans that their pets DO NOT understand holidays and customs? Please get this insulting thing off my head, now. I'm so embarrassed that I had to play the fool in my humans' Xmas whims. Bah humbug.
